Mattress Man donates Mattress to Poway Pop Warner

San Diego Mattress Man working with Sealy Mattress has made a donation of a Sealy Posturepedic  Ocean Winds Pillowtop Mattress Set. The Mattress set was given to the Poway Midget Raiders Team for a raffle during the teams concessions day.  The teams head coach name is Jason Gonzales and he has been coaching his whole adult life.  In fact Jason has no kids on the team and he comes out 4 times a week at a minimum to coach the boys.  Sealy Mattress was glad to help with the donation.  The money collected will help pay for uniforms above and beyond what the players have had to pay.

The mattress was raffled off September 25, 2010 in Poway.  The mattress winner was M. Cruz of Poway.  She purchased $20.00 worth of raffle tickets.

Recently their was a City Council meeting in Poway over the installation of lights at a park.  The Arbolito’s Sports Park was built in the 1997 and has been used as a field for games and practices for mainly soccer teams in Poway.  Over time the amount of youth has increased but the places with lighted fields has not.  The kids need a place to practice sports.

In September the youth sport leagues earned the approval of the Poway City Council and the lights will be installed in the near future.  The lights will only operate during the fall and winter months and will turn on between 5pm to 8pm Monday – Friday.  The affected residents who are very selected made such a fuss and the approval of the lights where delayed many times in attempts by Youth Leaders.  In fact it was one of the Council members, Merrilee Boyack, who’s home is near the park who made the most fuss and prevented the approval in recent years.

Today kids need a place to turn to keep out of trouble and also a place to burn off energy.  With all the budget cuts we need more leaders in the community who stand up for the youth and teach and mold them.  The youth are the leaders of tomorrow.  Thanks Jason Gonzales for spending your time teaching all these boys for all these years.  Us parents know that you have a newborn at home and still dedicated to help our youth!
